History

The acai bowl comes from Brazil, where acai berries from the Euterpe oleracea palm have been consumed for centuries. The dish became a global health-food trend in the 2010s, especially popular among surfers and fitness enthusiasts.

Ingredients

Preparation

1Freeze 1 banana ahead of time and cut into pieces.
2Blend the acai puree, frozen banana, and half the blueberries until thick and creamy.
3The mixture should be as thick as soft-serve ice cream — do not add too much liquid.
4Pour into a deep bowl.
5Top with sliced banana, blueberries, granola, and shredded coconut.
6Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with chia seeds and almonds.
