History
Syrniki (tvorog fritters) are a traditional Slavic dish made from farmer's cheese. The name comes from the Old Slavic word "syr," which originally meant tvorog. Popular for breakfast in Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.
Ingredients
Preparation
1Mash the tvorog with a fork until smooth.
2Add egg, sugar, vanilla sugar, and flour. Mix well.
3Shape into patties 1.5 cm thick, dredge in flour.
4Fry over medium heat for 3–4 minutes per side until golden.
5Serve with sour cream, jam, or honey.
⏱ Cook time: 30 min
Tips
The tvorog should be dry — squeeze out excess moisture through cheesecloth.
Don't add too much flour — the syrniki will turn rubbery.
