History
Shchi is an ancient Russian cabbage soup mentioned since the 9th century. A folk saying goes: "Shchi and kasha are our food." Made from fresh or sauerkraut on meat or meatless broth.
Ingredients
White cabbage400g
Beef300g
Potato2 pc
Carrot1 pc
Onion1 pc
Tomato paste1 tbsp
Bay leaf2 pc
Salt, pepperto taste
Sour creamfor serving
Preparation
1Make beef broth (1.5 hours), cut the meat.
2Add diced potatoes, cook 10 minutes.
3Add shredded cabbage.
4Sauté onion and carrot with tomato paste, add to soup.
5Simmer 20 minutes, add bay leaves, salt, pepper.
6Let rest 30 minutes.
7Serve with sour cream.
