History

Beef Stroganoff is named after Count Stroganov. Legend has it that his chef created the dish for the elderly count, who could no longer chew large pieces of meat. Thinly sliced beef in a sour cream sauce became a Russian classic.

Ingredients

Beef (tenderloin)500g
Onion2 pc
Flour1 tbsp
Oil3 tbsp
Salt, pepperto taste

Preparation

1Cut the beef into thin strips against the grain.
2Sear over high heat for 2–3 minutes until browned.
3Separately sauté onion half-rings.
4Combine the meat with onion, add flour, and stir.
5Add sour cream and simmer for 15 minutes on low heat.
6Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
