History

Teriyaki is a Japanese cooking method whose name means "to shine" (teri) and "to grill" (yaki). Traditionally fish was prepared this way, but outside Japan, teriyaki chicken became more popular.

Ingredients

Chicken fillet500g
Soy sauce4 tbsp
Honey2 tbsp
Rice vinegar1 tbsp
Ginger2 cm
Garlic2 cloves

Sesame1 tbsp

Preparation

1Mix soy sauce, honey, vinegar, grated ginger, and garlic for the sauce.
2Cut the chicken into medium-sized pieces.
3Stir-fry the chicken on high heat until golden.
4Pour in the sauce and simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
5Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve with rice.

Tips

For a glossy sauce, dissolve cornstarch in a spoon of water and add at the end. Do not over-salt — soy sauce is already salty.
