History
Mimosa salad got its name from the top layer of grated yolks resembling mimosa flowers. It has been popular on festive tables since the 1970s. The classic recipe uses canned fish.
Ingredients
Saury or tuna (canned)2 cans
Boiled eggs5 pc
Boiled potato3 pc
Boiled carrot2 pc
Onion1 pc
Mayonnaise150g
Butter50g
Preparation
1Boil eggs, potatoes, and carrots.
2Mash the fish with a fork.
3Dice onion finely.
4Layer with mayo between each: potato → fish → onion → carrot → whites → yolks.
5Grate yolks finely on top for the mimosa effect.
6Refrigerate for 2 hours.
⏱ Cook time: 1 hours + 2 hours soaking
Tips
Grate whites and yolks separately — whites go in the middle, yolks on top.
