History

Lasagna is one of the oldest Italian dishes, mentioned as early as the 14th century. Layered pasta with meat ragù and béchamel is the signature of Emilia-Romagna. It became popular in Russia in the 2000s.

Ingredients

Lasagna sheets250g
Ground beef500g
Canned tomatoes400g
Milk500ml
Flour3 tbsp
Butter50g
Onion1 pc
Garlic2 cloves

Preparation

1Sauté onion and garlic, add ground beef, cook until browned.
2Add tomatoes, simmer for 20 minutes — this is the meat sauce (bolognese).
3Make béchamel: melt butter, stir in flour, pour in milk, cook until thickened.
4In a baking dish: layer of béchamel → sheets → meat sauce → béchamel → sheets (repeat 3 times).
5Top layer — béchamel and grated parmesan.
6Bake at 180°C for 30–35 minutes until golden.

Tips

Lasagna sheets don't need pre-boiling — they will soften in the oven.
