History

Meat "French-style" is a popular festive dish in Russia, though it has no actual connection to France. It emerged in Soviet cooking as an elegant way to bake meat with cheese and mayonnaise.

Ingredients

Pork (tenderloin)500g
Onion2 pc
Tomatoes2 pc
Hard cheese150g
Salt, pepperto taste

Preparation

1Slice pork into 1 cm steaks, pound them.
2Arrange on a greased baking sheet.
3Season with salt and pepper, spread with mayonnaise.
4Top with onion rings, then tomato slices.
5Cover with grated cheese.
6Bake at 200°C for 30–35 minutes.
