History

Chakhokhbili is a Georgian stew, originally made with pheasant ("khokhbi" in Georgian). Nowadays it is prepared with chicken in tomato sauce with herbs and spices. One of the simplest and most delicious Georgian dishes.

Ingredients

Chicken1kg
Tomatoes5 pc
Onion3 pc
Garlic4 cloves
Cilantrolarge bunch
Khmeli suneli1 tbsp
Oil2 tbsp

Preparation

1Cut chicken into pieces, sear until browned.
2Sauté onion in half-rings.
3Blanch tomatoes, peel, and chop.
4Add tomatoes to the chicken and onion.
5Simmer for 30 minutes. Add spices and garlic.
6Garnish with cilantro before serving.

Tips

Don't add water — the tomatoes will release enough juice.
